About Us

The Peace and Justice Institute (PJI) started in 2008 at Valencia College and became an independent nonprofit in 2023. PJI's Principles for How We Treat Each Other are foundational practices of respect and community building and have been introduced to tens of thousands of individuals in Central Florida and beyond, and are used at workshops, meetings, events, schools, places of worship, businesses, government agencies and in homes. For fifteen years, PJI has served tens of thousands of community members through PJI Business Solutions, the Teachers Academy, the Resilience Network, and annual conference and community events. What began as a campus initiative now has a deep impact in meeting Central Florida’s needs and goals. PJI nurtures a respectful environment within our community and provides a roadmap for business professionals, government agencies, nonprofits, families, and the community to create a peaceful, just, and resilient central Florida.
