The Origins of the Israeli/Arab Conflict.

 Club member Gary Prager presents “The Origins of the Israeli/Arab Conflict.” On the 15th May 1948 the last British High Commissioner to Palestine, Sir Alan Cunningham, left Jerusalem putting an end to the British occupation and Mandate over Palestine. What had begun in 1917 with high hopes ended with a whimper and a country in a state of effective Civil War with Jews fighting Arabs. In this presentation, Gary will trace those origins with the birth of Western Nationalism, the origins of Zionism, the resettlement of Palestine, the beginnings of Arab Nationalism, and the eventual breakdown of any rapprochement between Jews and Arabs.
