City Commission Update - 04.29.21
Mayor Phil Anderson joined Winter Park Library officials this week to discuss progress of their new facility and ongoing fund-raising efforts prior to its completion. He encouraged the community to “band together to help ensure a fantastic opening” of this exceptional new facility.

The Winter Park City Commission yesterday unanimously re-elected Commissioner Carolyn Cooper to be Winter Park’s Vice-Mayor. Her fellow Commissioners and Mayor Phil Anderson spoke highly of her record of service. She will serve a second consecutive year in this position, which is also the final year of her service on the City Commission.

Winter Park’s new mayor, Phil Anderson, officially assumed office yesterday and easily led the Commissioners through a lengthy meeting as if he had never left the dais. A former member of the City Commission, Mayor Anderson expressed his gratitude after taking the oath of office for the opportunity to serve Winter Park in this new capacity.

Yesterday’s Winter Park City Commission meeting opened with recognition of Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary and congratulations for mayor-elect Phil Anderson. At this last meeting over which he would preside, Mayor Leary was recognized on behalf of City staff by City Manager Randy Knight for his ability to run an efficient meeting and for many notable accomplishments during his tenure that will benefit Winter Park for years to come, including a new train station, the renovation of the Showalter Field complex
