World Travel Market Wrap-Up

I’ve returned from the World Travel Market (WTM) in London with powerful insights, encouraging connections and strategically designed plans for the future. During the three days we exhibited, we met with meeting planners, tour operators, transportation companies, members of the media, including bloggers and influencers, travel wholesalers, destination marketing and public relations professionals. Our intention was to attract global awareness to Winter Park, to ensure that these travel professionals realize Winter Park’s unique cultural...

World Travel Market – Day 2

Since the launch of our campaign for international tourism and our announcement that Winter Park would be recognized on a Global stage at the World Travel Market (WTM), we’ve been asked, “Why wouldn’t you focus on the US Travel Market before going global?” The answer is simple and fundamental to any good marketing campaign:  it is where the growth potential lies. Since we began tracking the origins of our visitors to Winter Park this summer, we learned that the potential for attracting international visitors was growing. Today, our analysis...

I’ve officially arrived! #WTMLDN

I’ve officially arrived at the World Travel Market (WTM) at the ExCel Center in London, where I’m joined by Katie Keller, the Chamber marketing director, and Debbie Potter, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Alfond Inn. Over the next few days, 51,000 travel professionals will browse the exhibits in search of the next destination to add to their itinerary. I’m particularly excited at the prospect of meeting with a number of the 9,000 professionals who have direct purchasing power – that is, they can decide to add Winter Park to their...

Another Sippin’ Success

With the recent wrath of Hurricane Irma confining Winter Park residents to their homes for days our Sip, Shop & Stroll event could not have been planned for a better time. Over 150 people came out to enjoy the sunshine, wine and everything our Park Avenue businesses have to offer. Shoppers came alone, in groups or for a quaint date night for two. Each of the 20 businesses participating had a constant crowd of shoppers and sippers. Many, like Monark Premium Appliance Co., even stated they hosted more visitors than they ever have before....

Preparing for Hurricane Irma

*UPDATED SANDBAG INFORMATION* With the threat of Hurricane Irma growing closer to our shores, the city of Winter Park is preparing for any possible situation. All city emergency departments are fully prepared and on standby for the possibility of Irma’s landfall within the next few days. According to the National Hurricane Center, it is too soon to determine exactly when and at what magnitude Irma will reach the Florida peninsula. However, preparation is still necessary for all as governor Rick Scott has already declared a state of emergency...
