Pancake Batter into Stacks of Dough
One of the highlights of the year for Leadership Winter Park is the annual Pancake Breakfast held in Central Park. This year, the event celebrated its 18th annual breakfast presented by RE/MAX Town Centre, FBC Mortgage and Florida Power & Light and fed more hungry customers than ever before!
On Saturday, December 3 in the early pre-dawn hours, a group of committee members and volunteers arrived in Central Park to begin preparing the Pancake Breakfast. Grills were lit, pancake batter was whisked in gigantic bowls and thousands of servings of milk and coffee were delivered to the park. The 18th Annual Pancake Breakfast commenced at 7:00am with a line of anxious breakfast seekers. Over the course of the next two and a half hours, more than 1,100 people were served hot pancakes, sausage, beverages and a mountain of delicious Whole Foods Market toppings.
Sixty-seven volunteers helped to make the breakfast a success by covering all aspects of the event logistics. Leadership Winter Park would like to extend a big syrupy thank you to everyone to volunteered and attended.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Leadership Winter Park Legacy Fund which provides scholarships to small business owners, non-profit professionals and high school students through the Leadership Winter Park and Youth Leaders programs. These participants have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and become community stewards for Winter Park. Thanks to the outpouring of community support, nearly $20,000 was raised for the Legacy Fund.
