Art Festival & Kickoff Party Cancelled

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and City of Winter Park regret to announce that due to the approach of Hurricane Matthew, the 43rd Annual Autumn Art Festival has been cancelled. Due to the massive amount of planning and logistics, the festival will not be rescheduled. The annual event celebrating Florida artists was set to take place on Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9, in Central Park.

“The artists, local businesses and residents have anticipated the festival for many months, but in the interest of public safety, this decision has been made to protect all of the artists, sponsors, patrons, staff and volunteers,” said Erika Spence, senior director, marketing and communication, Winter Park Chamber of Commerce.

“Due to the strength of Hurricane Matthew, the unpredictable amount of rain and wind, and the number of public safety and general city personnel available, the Winter Park Autumn Art Festival has been cancelled,” said Mayor Steve Leary.  “It is unfortunate to have to cancel the Festival, one of our most widely anticipated and attended events.  However, given the unforeseen path and impact of Hurricane Matthew, diverting resources to prepare for the event at this juncture would not be in keeping with our priority. Public safety is most important for our residents, guests, businesses and staff.”

In addition, the Art Festival Kickoff Party has been cancelled until further notice. The event was set to take place Thursday, October 6, at Mead Botanical Garden. A new date has not been decided but the Chamber will make every effort to reschedule with event partners.

The Park Avenue Sidewalk Sale will continue as planned from Thursday, October 6, through Sunday, October 9. Store hours and participation may vary.

Chamber members, local businesses and residents are urged to prepare for the storm. The City of Winter Park has several important resources, including:
