Apply Now for Youth Leaders Class XVI

P1120876Time is running out to apply for Youth Leaders Class XVI! Central Florida’s premier leadership program for high school students is Winter Park Youth Leaders. Now, in it’s 16th year, Youth Leaders has graduated over 550 students from 17 Central Florida area public, private and charter high schools. Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to apply by Wednesday, May 11 for consideration into one of two summer sessions.

Two one-week programs will be held June 20 – 24, 2016 and July 18 – 22, 2016. The program is designed to help students develop new leadership skills and expose them to opportunities for leadership within our community. Throughout the weeklong program, students will enhance their knowledge of leadership styles, community organizations and career opportunities. Session topics include Team Building, Community Appreciation, Communication & Technology, Law & Government, and a day for career exploration and mentoring. The program concludes with a special graduation ceremony for the student and their family to celebrate their accomplishments.

0721150904aParticipants have the opportunity to engage in the community, meet local leaders and build on their skills for college and career preparedness. Based on their experience, Youth Leaders graduates from Class X developed the program’s mission statement which is still upheld today. “By being dedicated, diligent, and open-minded, we will model respect and commitment for the purpose of creating a more optimistic and passionate worldwide community of youth leaders.”

To apply, each student should complete an online application. Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview and a final selection will be made following interviews. Tuition for the program is $200 and need-based scholarships are available upon request. Participants are also eligible to receive up to 25 community service hours upon completion.
