Tis the LWP Season!
The holiday season is officially underway and with it brings some of Leadership Winter Park’s signature events! There are plenty of opportunities to spread holiday cheer by volunteering, helping families in need, gathering with friends and enjoying the festivities.
Holiday events will kick off with Winter on the Avenue on Friday, December 4 in Central Park. Downtown Winter Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with the tree lighting, entertainment, stilt walkers, a Park Avenue merchants open house, activity booths, movies in the park and a visit from Santa Claus! And the fun doesn’t end there…
(Not so) bright and early the next morning, LWP volunteers will be setting up for the 17th Annual Pancake Breakfast at the Central Park Stage. From 7:00 – 10:30am, we will be cooking, serving and topping over 2,000 pancakes for hungry guests. In addition to sausage, milk, OJ, coffee and a mountain of delicious toppings provided by Whole Foods Market, we will have MORE PANCAKES THAN EVER this year! Join us before, during and after the Ye Olde Hometown Christmas Parade which begins down Park Avenue at 9:00am.
We need over 75 volunteers to make the Pancake Breakfast possible and all those good deeds go towards a great cause. All proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast benefit the Leadership Winter Park Legacy Fund to provide scholarships for adult and youth leaders.Volunteer for the Pancake Breakfast
The following week, you can gather with LWP alumni again for the 23rd Annual Holiday Luncheon being held at the Winter Park Farmers’ Market on Thursday, December 10 from 11:30am – 1:15pm. Join Class XXVI members and alumni for a delicious holiday meal and a message about the importance of community togetherness to solve problems. You will be inspired by keynote speaker Mark Brewer, President & CEO of the Central Florida Foundation. The luncheon will also feature the presentation of the coveted 2015 LWP Volunteer of the Year award.
Following the tradition from 23 years ago, LWP has adopted another six families from the Winter Park Housing Authority for the Adopt-a-Family program. Help make a child’s holiday joyous and bright by providing an unwrapped toy or clothing item for deserving families in need. Check out the family wish lists and bring an item(s) to the Holiday Luncheon or drop off at the Winter Park Chamber by Monday, December 14.Register for the Holiday Luncheon View the Family Wish List
We look forward to celebrating the holidays with you and appreciate the support of our many alumni who make this community such a magical place!
